Sunday 24th February (2013-2-25)

A small group gathered at the Market Place on this cold damp morning. Snow lay on the minor roads from the previous day and there was quite a snow flurry just before people met. Four went for a walk, one cycled to Durham but three hardy (is that synonymous with “mad”?) members went to Cotherstone. […]

Today’s ride attempted to avoid the icy roads and snow that still covered the higher level routes. Route out, Windmill, Lands, Hilton, Ingleton, Piercebridge and onto the Strawberry Field road. A return via Eppleby, Caldwell, Winston Gate, Whorlton, Staindrop, Wackerfield, Burnthouses and Butterknowle, with a slight diversion for hill reps from the Slack to Cockfield Fell. […]

Sunday 3rd February (2013-2-3)

With a strong wind blowing from the West the 16 riders obviously did a sensible thing and headed right into it towards Stanhope.  As usual there were two separate groups.  The culture group taking a direct route to Stanhope while the others headed up over Hamsterley and Howlea to join the main road at Wolsingham.  The […]
