Sunday 10th February

Snow was forecast so the 14 (ish) played it safe to head out for Barnard Castle.

It was one of those cold days when you never felt warm, which wasn’t helped by an enforced stop due to a puncture within 10 minutes of setting off.

Route out – Evenwood Gate, Wackerfield, Staindrop, Winston, Ovington with a split near Whorlton.

The culture group took a direct route via Westwick to the café stop.

The others, ignoring the persistant snow showers, took in a loop taking in Thorpe to Brignall and around to Barnard Castle to meet the culture group who were already into mountains of food!

Snow, hail and rain continued to chill the bones with various routes home.  Either direct on the A688 or Follytop or Penny Hill.

A day for numb extremities with up to 50 miles covered by most riders.
