Sunday 3rd March

Two groups out today in cool but dry conditions.

Each took similar routes but in different directions to hopefully meet up at Barton Services for the Chef’s speciality of Beans on Toast.

Judy, making a welcome return after being a bit poorly, was with the culture group who went out via Ingleton, Summerhouses, Piercebridge and Manfield arriving at Barton shortly after the other lot but before they had eaten all the beans.  Their return trip was Melsonby, Aldborough St John with a pause to admire Stanwick Fortifications, on to Eppleby, Winston and home via Wackerfield.

The other lot largely made up things as they went along going through Staindrop, Whorlton, Caldwell, other places whose name I forget as it all became a bit of a blurr and on to Barton.  A return journey with a loop to Middleton Tyas, Croft, Cleasby and Manfield.  The route then continued to Eppleby, Caldwell, Winston, Staindrop, Wackerfield and West Auckland.

The club covered today between 50 and65 miles depending upon the route taken.
