Monday 26th May – Richmond Grass Track

Quick round up from the Grass Track racing at Richmond meet:

Practice started at 12noon so the plan was to get there at 11.30 get the bikes set up etc ready for practice, well after 3 days of more a less constant rain the track wasn’t to wet but it was bit spongy in places and this made it hard going at times. There was basically 1hr of practice where bikes were constantly getting gears changed! (Thanks goes to Eddie, BACC Track bike mechanic). Andrew Strong and Martin Blenkin rode various events throughout the day then there was the 3 man team sprint racing for the Richmond cobble trophy. All 3 of our teams were beaten in the heats, but I have to say it was the toughest conditions I rode at this event so credit to all our riders involved, Stuart Raw, Tom Alder, Graham Tindale, Jon Mitford, Paul Kirby, Lee Whitworth, Eddie Buist and of course Martin and myself. Great day out and we will be back next year to try and retake the trophy from the current holders, Teesdale CRC. Well done guys for fielding junior team with some of the riders never having ridden fixed wheel bikes, well done!!
