10th April

A group of 15 riders left the market place heading up the main street – 2 latecomers were picked up on the way up making a total of 17 riders.

The plan was to stay together until the top of Shildon then split into two groups, both heading to Ellerton Lakes. The faster group putting an early loop in managed to spot the other group infront – keeping quiet (difficult for some) we latched onto the back of them for a while until JB looked back.

Splitting again both groups ended up doing a similar route towards Scorton then onto Ellerton Lake but managed to go to different areas once there! Sitting out on the sun made a welcome change with excellent weather for the day.

Regrouping after tea and cakes, and with a tail wind at last, we made our way back via Forest, Croft, Manfield and Piercebridge, with the ones who stayed out getting at least 70 miles in.
