Sunday Ride 29th May

Another windy day, another easy ride out to Piercebridge.  Altough this time it was due to most riders saving themselves for the following day’s grass track race meet at Richmond.

The group consisted of 13 riders (would have been 14 but Davey slept in)  this number soon reduced to 12 as new member Andy dropped off in West Auckland.  He was obviously still over stimulated from his late night at the “Take That” concert!

The easy pace was confirmed when even Keith was in contention for the road sign sprints!

After coffee and teacakes at Piercebridge the group split up with different ways home planned.  The Chairman decided to liven things up a bit by having not one but two punctures in quick succession.

For the main group the way home took in Caldwell, Winston and Staindrop with a further split either along the main A688 or a more scenic route taking in Burnthouses, Woodland and Windmill.

Distance covered today between 35 and 50 very windy miles.

Note:- On Sunday June 19th Round 4 of the Premier Calendar Series will set off from Blanchland at 10.30 am, Paul has suggested that the club ride there to catch the start and hopefully  watch the stars show us how it should be done.  Further details to follow in the Forthcoming Events Section.
