Sunday 5th June

Thirteen riders including potential  new members and Davy and Margaret on a tandem covered in excess of 60 miles in cool and showery conditions.  The route was a round trip to Thorpe Thewles rail trail station cafe.

The outward journey passed through Coundon, Old Eldon and Newton Aycliffe before hitting the country roads around Great Stainton (where deer were still active, crossing the road in between  riders) Bishopton, Redmarshall and Carlton.  This weeks puncture belonged to Nikki.

We were all interested to learn new things at the cafe stop such as where Margaret warms her hands while riding the tandem and how she gained such interesting bruises.  Please ask the Chairman if you require more detailed information on this matter but how he knows is anyone’s guess!

The group split into two for the rides home with the “steady” riders opting for the rail trail, Trimdon, Mainsforth, Ferryhill and Kirkmerrington.  The other group pressed on for a tour of Stockton, Eaglescliffe, Middleton St George, Sadberge and Aycliffe.

p.s. Not content with a puncture Nikki broke here chain as well!
