Sunday 2nd October

After a week of sunshine and temperatures in the high 20’s Sunday was damp, cool and the roads very greasy!

Two groups set out for Richmond both taking the ride seriously with sprint competitions for every town/village sign and one senior member not even going out for a beer on the previous Saturday night. (you know who you are).

On the outward ride the greasy road down to Whorlton Bridge caught out Stuart who slid his bike and his knee across the tarmac.  The resulting injury used up all our available first aid supplies. (two plasters and a dried up wet wipe)!  You will be glad to know his bike was ok.

The hill up to Gilly Wood brought out some very impressive swear words from the club secretary before the descent to Richmond for a picnic provided by Greggs.  This was except for Davey and John who chose the refined setting of the cafe in the nearby woollen shop.

A swift return home with continuing town sign sprints gave a distance riden today of between 60 and 70 miles.

p.s. Unfortunately, looks like winter bikes from next week.
