Sunday 2nd December

Sub-zero temperatures and many icy roads meant that a steady ride was much the preferred option.

There were 14 riders out today with most opting to head for Barnard Castle.  The route out – Evenwood Gate, Ingleton, Piercebridge, Eppleby, Winston Gate, Whorlton and Barnard Castle for lunch.  Some of the group were lost on the way as the icy conditions were not to their liking.

A return home back to Whorlton then Little Newsham, Staindrop, Wackerfield and West Auckland.

In summary, the day was sunny but very cold with care required due to ice on the majority of minor roads.  Most riders covering in the region of 50 “sensibly paced” miles.
